Feeding and Seeding

It’s been a little over a month since our last post. Wow! Time sure does fly when you are working with these kids! Since our last blog, we are now feeding more than 90 students every weekend.  Since our last blog, we have been working with students on leadership skills.  Since our last blog, we’ve been reaching out to even more students with special needs and trying to fill in the missing gaps for them.

We’ve also been telling our story… all over the place! We’ve had wreath making classes, coupon classes, shown up at the homecoming parade in Bethel, and supplied all the cotton candy, popcorn, and drinks during a local church’s trunk or treat. We’ve spoke at area churches and the Lion’s club. We have been busy… busy with a purpose. Let’s change this community!

One of our greatest highlights in November has been working as a sponsor for the play “Dead Serious About Life.” This play about teen suicide had a great impact on the students of Bethel and the surrounding areas.  We are still receiving emails and messages from students seeking help for themselves and friends.

What’s coming up?

TUESDAY November 17, we are having our largest fundraiser– the Christmas Spectacular Quarter Auction at the ARF Bingo Hall in Amelia. Come and scope out the goods at 6pm. The auction starts at 7pm. We have so many great items including: Holiday World Tickets, a cool basket with gift cards from Dewey’s pizza, great gifts for Christmas, and so much more I can’t even stand it!  We have some yummy baked goods too!

Monday, December 7th, 6-8pm Painting Class with Shauna Wilson @ the Bethel Library. The cost of the class is $30 and all the supplies and refreshments are included. Sign up by emailing toempoweryouth@gmail.com or finding us on facebook.

Would you like to give a gift to empower youth? With more and more students needing help, we can always use the extra funds. Please mail your gift to Empower Youth, PO Box 351, Bethel, OH 45106 or you can click on our donate page and send it directly without buying a stamp!
